Adjustments to Bans and Apology

   theatreTECHIE   - 3/3/2019
Last Sunday, a private matter was brought into the general chat of the AU.RGL.gg discord. A discussion was then held between multiple people on this topic. This is not accepted behaviour in a community which is designed to be an open and welcoming community. The following penalties are applied following investigation into the events of that night.

Multiple actions were taken throughout the week by the staff that were based on one-sided evidence, and we were too quick to make many decisions. The actions that are taken going forward are listed below:

Gears - 76561198036440266
The original ban this player was given has been lifted. What was said by the aforementioned player in the general chat was not worth a ban, as the comment made was before the discussion started, and was not particularly rude.

Midbee - 76561198042803042
This player will retain their 6 month ban, as private matters are not to be brought into public discord channels.

Bec - 76561198071764334
This player is banned for one week from the time that their current ban started. Although they did not participate greatly in the discussion, a comment was made within the discussion in the discord.

fuzz - 76561198156872898
Banned for 6 months. This player has been warned multiple times for attitude within our communiuty, and after contributing in the discussion greatly despite being warned, has been banned for this length of time.

Rain - 76561198071365493
Banned for 2 weeks for the participation in the discussion.

Josh - 76561198053522366
Banned for 2 weeks for continuing with the conversation in general. Although defending yourself, in this case where a private matter is brought into a public discord, the better way to handle this is to not participate in the conversation and instead contact admins to deal with it.

Wohxye - 76561198313526514
Initially banned for misinformation, however determined that this information was given truthfully, hence original ban will be removed.

Other league business that is happening is outlined below:

Furry Fury
Furry Fury who was dropped from the league this week will be allowed to re-enter the league, however will be given a minor-warning for throwing their Week 3 match on Badwater. All matches from Week 5 until the end of the season shall be played as if they were not dropped, and a make-up match between Furry Fury and QWOP eSports will be arranged to make-up for the Week 4 match missed this week.

Nik-6
Nik-6 are issued a minor-warning for readying up in a server with a merc present on their team that was not communicated to the other team prior.

In a previous week, we had allowed doge to merc for a team where he should not have been allowed. This was a mistake on our part, and going forward, if your team has a concern regarding the merc automatically allowed for the other team in the minor round, bring your concerns to the staff, and we will look into it. As a guideline, the merc should have approximately the same skill level as the player they are replacing. In finals, neither team will be automatically allowed a merc, and all mercs must be approved by the opposing team.

This is the final decision on all of these matters, and a reminder to everyone to not bring up personal matters in the public channels of the discord. If you have a problem, please bring it to a staff member directly, and we will then be able to deal with it. We apologise to all players who were given longer bans than they deserved, and we take full responsibility of how we handled the situation, and how we made the wrong decisions previously. We will work hard to be more fair and just in our decision making process in the future.

See you all next week,
